·         MICMS will provide a learning environment of demanding academic achievement and student growth through innovation in curricula and teaching techniques that causes every student to learn.

·          MICMS will maintain and continually strengthen already firmly established elementary peer bonds and continued respect for local and community authority figures as a means to minimize juvenile delinquency in middle school years.

·          MICMS will celebrate our community and it uniqueness through a variety of programs based on our island, its environment, its city government and local professional climate providing many school-to-career exploratory programs and creative course offerings to enhance an already challenging Core Knowledge based curriculum.

·          MICMS will encourage greater community investment and ownership in a local middle school providing increased parental and community support and input into academic, disciplinary, mentor and volunteer/community service programs.

·          MICMS will provide as diverse and broad ethnic, cultural and socio-economic background as possible, even though we are unique in our geographical isolation and separateness, to our student population maximizing potential for life long community and cooperative skills beginning at an early age.

·          MICMS will provide a variety of competitive and intramural sports programs; emphasizing an interest in healthy exercise activities and life styles.
